One glance shows the Cascade doesn't resemble a typical We.no.nah. Most of our models have sharp ends, vertical stems, and a straight keel-line. Those elements make a canoe track straight, travel fast, and glide far for each stroke. They are the aspects of a hull designed to perform best on lakes or calm rivers.

This canoe has blunt ends, angled stems, and 2" of rocker. It's also quite deep (15" in the center), and is one of our widest hulls. As such, there's no mistaking the Cascade's mission: This model is made for fast rivers, and for the people who enjoy treacherous waters.

The Cascade turns and draws beautifully on a strong current. It has loads of seaworthiness and retains it when heavily weighted. Flare fore and aft deflect spray, and at 17'6", it has plenty of room to carry gear. Although you can use the Cascade lightly loaded to run rapids just for fun, its capacity makes it ideal for heavy tripping on swift rivers.

Due to its length, the Cascade also paddles fairly well on quiet water. You can use it for fishing or sightseeing on lakes, but it's not well suited to long or heavy trips, except on rivers.

Although it has some resemblance to our Royalex Spirit, the Cascade is more specialized. It's more maneuverable and seaworthy, while the Spirit tracks and paddles better on moderate waters. It may also be compared to the Rogue. At 1'6" shorter, and with slightly more rocker, the Rogue is even more maneuverable, but it has less capacity.

Since the Cascade is intended primarily for whitewater, we make it only in the most rugged material. Built from Royalex, the Cascade is an excellent design for downriver use, and it remains undaunted when rocks block your path.
